Who we have helped
A note from Chuck's new family
…
"Here is Chuck, who's
gone from a sad heartworm positive shelter dog to
a happy boy thanks to your generous help with his
heartworm treatment. Because of you (and Drs. Thabes
and Summitt at Bannerman
Pet Care) Chuck is one happy beagle!
P.S. Thanks, too, for providing the training class
at the shelter. Chuck starts his class next Thursday!"
Chuck's Mom tells us that he is the third formerly
heartworm positive dog in the family (all from the
Animal Services Center!) and the only one receiving
ASF's Heartworm Help program and Doggie Manners class.
Yea, Chuck!

When
staff members at the Animal Service Center opened the
door of the overnight holding pen one morning, they
were greeted by a huge pair of soulful eyes that seemed
to ask “What am I doing here?”. Overnight,
someone had stuffed a full-grown, 63 pound American
Bulldog mix into the cramped pen. Boudreaux, as he was
soon named, was extremely underweight and tested positive
for heartworms, but his sweet personality and unique
looks won him a chance at adoption.
Believe
it or not, Boudreaux has a brown patch on his side in
the shape of a perfect heart! After 2 weeks at the ASC,
Boudreaux was placed into a loving foster home so that
he could receive his heartworm treatment. He is now
a healthy weight and has begun his heartworm treatment.
This transformation was made possible by the ASF, who
funded the treatment. Thanks to the ASF, Boudreaux is
one step closer to getting adopted by the wonderful
family that he deserves!

Did You Know?
Dogs' only sweat glands are between their paw
pads.
Cats
step with both left legs, then both right legs
when they walk or run. The only other animals
to do this are the giraffe, camel and the maned
wolf.
