Homeless Cat Seeks Financial
Bailout
By Heather Smith
Economic crises are just for humans? Not so, says one special six year old cat named Ally who has faced more than her share of trials and tribulations in recent months. The homeless kitty arrived at the Tallahassee Animal Service Center during the summer of 2008 where she spent weeks gently sliding her paws through the cage bars in the hopes of catching the attention of a prospective adopter. Her charms paid off when she was adopted by a loving family, but tragically, a few months later Ally found herself without a home again when her new parents lost their jobs and were evicted from their home.
Enter foster parent Jackie Chelette. Long-time shelter volunteer and cat lover extraordinaire, the bubbly Chelette spends hours in the Shelter's cat ward each week and gets to know the facility's felines on a first name basis. Chelette had forged a bond with Ally before she was adopted, and when the cat came back to the Shelter she was determined to provide her version of a "bailout" to her unlucky four-legged friend. She whisked Ally into foster care with her. Chelette is now reaching out to the Tallahassee community to try to find what will be a lifetime home for the cat.
Jade is a one year old tortoiseshell
with distinctive markings and gorgeous green eyes.
“She is just a really well behaved cat,”
reports Green. “She's never jumped on our kitchen
counters, she never scratches the furniture, and she's
the only cat that didn’t try to climb the Christmas
tree!” .
Chelette describes Ally as a real people cat who enjoys playtime as much as cuddling on the couch. "When Ally is in kitty bliss she rolls on her back, stretches out, and rolls from side to side," says Chelette. "She loves attention and affection and will benefit from someone who is ready to spend time with her and give her their love."
"Ally's favorite toy is a laser light and any toy with catnip! And there are times she is so happy to play that she will chase her tail!" adds Chelette.
Ally is spayed, litter box trained
and current on her vaccinations. If you are interested
